Congratulatory letter from The White House, Washington
The White House
Washington
April 1, 2004
I send greetings to those celebrating the 90th anniversary of the University of Texas at El Paso.
Since 1914, the University of Texas at El Paso has built a strong legacy of educating its students while serving as a center for research, cultural events and athletics. In the nine decades since your beginning as a school of mines and metallurgy, your institution has grown into a major institution of higher learning in the Southwest. Through the years, UTEP’s commitment to learning has prepared its alumni to be successful leaders in communities throughout Texas and America.
I commend the teachers, administrators, students, parents, alumni and community supporters who have devoted their time and their talents to the University. Your commitment to higher education strengthens our Nation and helps ensure a bright future for your students.
Laura joins me in sending our best wishes for a memorable anniversary celebration.
George W. Bush
