Website redesign 09/30/2004 - 11:38am

Well, the long overdue redesign of the website is complete. This one took me a little longer than I wanted, but I really like the new colors. This new theme should make the website look good while I make a whole new layout (this one is three years old already!).

If you have comments you can let me know. My contact information is available in the contact us section.

Now, I know I am not supposed to push my own agenda since this is not my organization nor my website. But, as I worked on this redesign I got reminded more and more why I dislike Internet Explorer, so here it goes:

<rant>Please get rid of Internet Explorer. It's outdated, does not follow standards, cannot use PNG transparency correctly, its CSS support is lousy (forcing me to make several hacks in this site that I shouldn't have to) and it's just plain insecure. If you want to try a more modern browser, please give a try to Mozilla Firefox, or other alternatives like Opera. Then maybe, hopefully, one day, most users of the web will use compliant enough browsers so that web developers won't have to suffer with compatibility problems in order to give visitors an adequate experience.</rant>

This rant expresses my opinion only and not the opinion of ASU nor UTEP.

First Fall 2004 Slumber Party 09/22/2004 - 1:45pm

This announcement is to let everyone know that plans for the first Slumber Party of the semester have started. We are planning to have the Slumber Party sometime during October, and we are looking for volunteers that are up to hosting the party. If you want to host the party, please see any of the officers during our regular meetings.

For those not familiar with the term, "Slumber Party" is the name we have for gatherings outside our regular meetings. These meetings usually happen on Saturday, at the house of a member, and last all day. Slumber Parties are good to know titles that are not shown during the regular meetings (including possible candidates for future semesters), and allow members to interact in a more relaxed environment.

September 17th meeting delay 09/14/2004, 6:15pm

Because of schedule conflicts, this week's meeting will be delayed half an hour and we will start at 1:30. Therefore, there will not be Officer's Spot, and those titles before the Officer's Spot will be will be shifted 30 minutes.

Also, a reminder to everyone. We will be accepting requests to change the schedule so people can make it to see their favorite titles *ONLY* during the first meeting. We will change the schedule trying to fulfill the requests for the second meeting, and the schedule will remain the same as the second meeting for the rest of the semester.

Candidate list for Fall 2004 08/12/2004, 2:35pm

The following is a list of the candidate titles for the Fall 2004 semester:

Action titles (in alphabetical order)

Non-Action titles (in alphabetical order)

We encourage the members to research the titles before the meeting so an informed choice can be made. We are providing some links for your convenience, but we recommend you to take the reviews with a grain of salt, especially those from Animenfo.

All the candidate titles have been screened either during the end of the Spring semester and during the Summer semester, or during Jamie's slumber party.

For this semester, seven titles will be selected. Each member will vote for 6 titles, (3 action and 3 non-action), and the seventh title will be decided between the fourth place of each category.

The ballots will be counted and the winners for each category announced. The winners will be shown in the order listed on the next meeting page.

First meeting of the semester 08/12/2004, 1:35pm

The first meeting of the Fall 2004 semester is going to be on August 27, which is the first Friday of classes. During this meeting, we will vote for the titles that will be show during the semester as well as the people who will become the new officers. As always, returning members who are in good standing are the persons who will be allowed to vote and run for an officer position.

Since voting will be done during the first half of the meeting, we ask everyone to come in early. Your voice is very important to us, so we would like your participation in the ballots.
