Last meeting of summer 07/21/04 - 12:00AM
This is to let everyone know that this week's meeting will be the last meeting for the summer semester. Remember that the titles that we have shown during summer will be the candidate titles for next semester, so coming to the meetings is a good way to make an informed decision at the beginning of next semester.
We want to thank everybody that has supported us by coming to the weekly meetings, and those who helped make the Anime Expo trip a success. Stay tuned for announcements regarding our plans on future activities.
ASU BANZAI!
Meeting delayed this week 07/13/04 - 10:20PM
Due to the room being reserved for academic purposes, this week's meeting will be delayed to 2:30. Therefore, this week's meeting will be shorter, but we will try to squeeze six titles this week.
Also, this week starts a new batch of candidate titles, so there might be something that is of special interest to your anime taste. Hope to see you there!

ASU AX Trip: We're baaaack! 07/07/04 - 11:30PM
So we're finally back from our trip to SoCal and we must say we had a blast!! Trip was excellent even if we had a few snafus along the way (RIP Gold Leader). Our next meeting will be on Friday 7/9 so make sure you're there if you want to hear about our trip!!
We're off to Anime Expo 2004!! 06/29/04 - 12:15am
This Wednesday we'll embark in our annual con trip and this year we'll converge along with thousands of anime fans in Southern California in that little event known ... as the biggest anime con on the West Coast!! >:) May the anime goddess shine her blessings on the "ASU AX04 Caravan" (tm) and embelish us with wisdom (so that we won't spend all our money in the Dealer's Room) (webmaster's note: HA! You will fall to the dark side!). This year we're trying an extra day of sighseeing (am I'm hearing talk of Six Flags, Disneyland and Universal Studios ^_-) so, we'll see how it works out and maybe make it the norm for next year's trip. See you all next week! We'll have fun for ya! >:)
Convention Guidelins: Uploaded! 06/25/04 - 1:30AM

June 25th meeting: CANCELLED! 06/24/04 - 8:50PM
Unfortunately, the meeting for Friday June 25th will have to be cancelled due to rooms being unavailable. The planning meeting for the AX trip is still on. We'll meet outside our usual place, the LACIT Viewing Room (LART 403) at 5:00PM on Friday and we'll find a room to have the meeting at. If you're going on the trip, make sure you're there!
ASU AX Trip: It's only a week away! 06/23/04 - 12:00AM
The trip is only a week away! I hope you guys are as psyched as I am (I need a vacation. BADLY >_<) Anyway, the final meeting for the trip will be Friday, June 25th in LART XXX at 5:00PM, after ASU's showing. If you're going to AX with us, please make plans to attend as final decisions will be made at this meeting. We'll be discussing car/room assignments, rules, plans for the extra sightseeing day, etc. Make sure you come!
ASU Anime Expo 2004 Con Trip status 06/17/04 - 10:40AM
T-minus...
Alright, the AX trip is less than 2 weeks away! I hope you guys are as pumped as I am ^^! We will be collecting the remaining amount this Friday 6/18 at the meeting so, please make sure you have your contribution.
The final amount up to this moment is $163, which covers a van and one car for transportation, and three rooms for lodging. Right now we have two spots that are open to people who want to go. If we find people to fill these spots, transportation conditions can improve without an impact on cost. So if you have the money (around $170), have the time (the trip will be from Wed 6/30 to Tue 7/6), can travel to LA, and have the desire to have a great time at an anime convention, please let us know ASAP.
You can find more details in the other activities section.
ASU Anime Expo 2004 Con Trip status 06/06/04 - 12:50PM
The deadline is still Friday, June 18th during the meeting. If you are not planning to make it to this meeting, make sure that you somehow get your money to us before. We'll be computing the final amount in the upcoming days, taking into account the profits made at CONFRONT and the expected cost of gas and gas mileages from the vehicles making up the ASU Caravan. We're expecting it to be an additional (i.e. not counting the deposit) amount of between $160 and $190.
We are planning to depart sometime in the afternoon/evening of Wednesday, June 30th and comeback sometime on Tuesday July 6th. We'll be posting up the trip recommendations in the upcoming days as well.
Update 06/10/04 - 2:15PM
The trip is fast approaching and we need to run a headcount on the people who signed up. If you have already signed up for the trip and you are still planning to go, please let us know in the proper thread of the forums. Even if you cannot go, please let us know so we can have an accurate estimate of the cost for per person.
The way it's looking right now, there MIGHT be an opening for one person to replace someone who is unfortunately unable to make the trip. If you're seriously interested (i.e. you have the money, you can travel outside border towns, and have off from Wed. June 30th through Tue. July 6th), please contact us ASAP!!
No meeting this Friday, June 11th 06/06/04 - 01:00PM
The University will be closed this Friday in observance of the Official Day of Mourning in remembrance of former President Ronald Reagan so therefore, the meeting for this Friday will be cancelled. We should be back next Friday, June 18th at our usual time. Check this page in the upcoming days for the latest info.
CONFRONT 2004: A great success!! 06/06/04 - 12:50PM
Wow, CONFRONT 2004 came and went and we must say that although it was a lot of work, we had a great time!! We also learned quite a bit about con, event and booth planning so, there could be something interesting in ASU's future.
A very big "Thank You!" to all those who supported us with the planning and execution stages of this ASU activity!
Convención de la Frontera (Confront) 2004 05/29/04 - 12:05AM
ASU will be present at CONFRONT 2004 in Juarez, Mexico, which will be on Saturday June 5th and Sunday June 6th starting at noon each day. For more information, visit http://www.changolion.com/ (in Spanish) and the other activities page.
Anime Expo 2004 trip update 05/29/04 - 12:00AM
ASU's trip to Southern California for AX 2004 is less than a month away and the pre-con jitters are beginning (or is it just me? ^^). Anyway, with the trip fast approaching, here are the following things to keep in mind:
- Deadline to give the remaining money for the trip is Friday, June 18th at the meeting.
- The remaining amount will most likely be between $150 and $180 (we're going to run new numbers to take into account the skyrocketing gas prices and all profits that we make during the next month).
- Luggage will be restricted to 1 carry-on (backpack, purse, briefcase, etc) and 1 small suitcase/duffel bag per person.
- List of recommendations for the trip will [hopefully] be up sometime next week here on the website (sorry, too busy ^^)
Keep tuned to the site for more updates on ASU's AX 2004 Trip. Also, good luck to those ASU people going to A-Kon this weekend. Hope you guys have lots of fun!
Summer 2004: start! 05/29/04 - 12:00AM
I'm sure everyone had a nice break (yay finals are over and classes were [hopefully ^^] passed but, it's time to get back into the rhythm of things and that can only mean: ASU's Summer Anime Days are back! Join ASU again this summer on Friday afternoons to enjoy great anime in the company of fellow fans! The schedule is now available in the next meeting page. Don't miss it!
Licensing updates 05/28/04 - 11:55PM
Quite a bit has happened in this area concerning ASU since the end of last semester. Past ASU favorites like Hundred Folk Stories, Yuushi, Fumoffu, Peacemaker Kurogane, Shingetsutan Tsukihime and Fullmetal Alchemist have been licensed for domestic distribution, thereof will not be continued next Fall (such is the case for Hundred Stories, Yuushi, Kurogane and Fullmetal Alchemist). If you enjoyed and/or were enjoying these titles with ASU, please support the R1 release by purchasing the DVDs!
Summer plans 05/05/04 - 11:35AM
Just because it's summer, it doesn't mean that we at ASU remain inactive! We have several things in store for you this summer. First off, the expected date for the first official meeting is Friday, June 4th (first Friday of Summer I). Check the next meeting page in the upcoming weeks for more info.
Second, ASU will be participating with a booth in CONFRONT 2004 in Juarez, Mexico on June 5th and 6th in Plaza de las Americas. If you live in Juarez and would like to help ASU out, please let us know via the forums or by e-mail (see the contact us page).
Last but not least: summer cons! Good luck to ASU people going to A-Kon in Dallas this June. Hope you have lots of fun! The rest of us will get our con fix a month later at Anime Expo in July. For discussion on the Official ASU Anime Expo 2004 trip, go to the forums.
