Just so you guys know, this friday's meeting is not the last one for the semester. We will be having a meeting on dead day next Friday as well. However, this is the last meeting for the viewing of official series.
Jabel is leaving 04/12/05 - 3:17 pm
For those of you who are not aware yet, Jabel got a job in Illinois. Because of this he will be leaving in the very near future. That means two things: one, the box of anime swag will be gone after this week, so if there is something there you want you'd best get it on friday. Two: there might be some activity going on, so check out the forums or look for updates on this page for info on that one.
UPDATE: Jabel has opted to go to Korean restaurant Kalbi House on the Northeast. Map can be found here. Meeting time is around 7:00PM.
EPAC '05 Meeting 04/12/05 - 3:15 pm
For those of you interested in volunteering time, anime, or submitting art for EPAC there will be a brief meeting after the showing this friday.
Air replacement voting cancelled 04/05/05 - 12:15 pm
The replacement voting for Air has been cancelled, because we have chosen to show episode 13 (the recap episode). For the last week of class we will just have two officer spots instead.
Artists wanted 04/05/05 - 11:57 pm
We are currently seeking artists to help us design a mascot for EPAC '05. This is an opportunity to show us your stuff, and maybe get your name out there in the local art scene. At the very least, if your picture is selected your art will be featured on flyers, banners, and the EPAC '05 webpage, which gives you some bragging rights. For more information, inquire with any of the current officers.
El Paso Anime Convention '05 officially announced! 04/05/05 - 11:38 pm
This year the ASU will be hosting a one day anime convention on June 3rd. For more information, visit the official website at www.utep.edu/asu/epac05. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

An officer position has opened up within the club. We are currently accepting applications as to who would like to be our new vice president, so if you would like to be involved in the decisions that allow this club to run and would like some say as to what kind of quality programming will be provided for the members of ASU, inquire with any of the current officers.

Well, look's like we're about to finish another one... Next week will be the end of Air, which means we'll need to replace it for the rest of the semester. Please post any suggestions on the message boards or inform one of us officers about a replacement that you might want to see and be prepared to vote on a new title soon.

Due to internal issues with organization and the university, the next videogame tournament has been cancelled. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone. However, we are planning a new event, which will be coming soon. Look forward to more information regarding this one soon.

Our next videogame tournament will be coming in mid April. It looks to be another fighting game tournament, so look forward to that. For more information, please refer to the other activities section of our website.

Starting this week, we will be taking suggestions for a new image for the website background. You can tell the officers or you can post your suggestions on the forum. Image links would be appreciated as well. Please limit suggestions for the background to series that are currently being shown during our meetings, and nothing too fan servicey please.

The next videogame tourney hosted by the ASU is officially being announced. Coming in early to mid march to a TRCC near you, the ASU presents a Halo 2 tournament! Stay tuned for more details.
ASU Con Trip meeting this Friday! 02/17/05 - 2:25pm
Those people interested in going to Anime Expo with ASU, please attend this first trip-planning meeting which will be this Friday, Feb. 18th at 5:00PM in LART 403 (right after ASU's showing). Several deadlines and procedures will be announced at this meeting and most likely, decisions that will affect the trip WILL be made so, if you have plans to attend the biggest anime convention in the US with ASU, make sure to attend.
NARUTO licensed, to be removed from Spring 2005 lineup. 02/17/05 - 2:20pm
In compliance with the anime fansubbing code of ethics, Naruto will be removed from this semester's lineup as it has been licensed by ShoPro Entertainment as indicated in this Press Release received by Anime News Network. Videogame tournament game a success! 02/17/05 - 2:10pm
Thank you all very much for your support of another ASU videogame tourney! This one turned out to be one of the best in recent memory. Again, thank you all for your generous support. Results were:

Spring 2005 elections 01/12/05 - 1:46pm
Like every semester, we will have our title and officer elections during the first meeting.
Nominations for officers will be taken at the beginning of the meeting. If you are a member in good standing (you can see the requirements in the membership section) and you think you can contribute to ASU becoming a better student organization, your participation as an officer nominee will be appreciated.
For this semester, seven titles will be selected; four action titles and three non-action titles. Each current member will pick their choices, and the titles with the most votes will be selected. In the case of a tie, a quick "raise hand" voting will be done. For the first meeting the titles will be shown in the order given in the next meeting section. If you will have a schedule conflict with your favorite title, please let us know so we can consider your case when deciding the final schedule.

A new year, a new semester, a new season of anime at UTEP! Now that the new semester has started, we are getting ready for the first meeting of the semester this Friday.
If you are a member in good standing, we want to invite you to participate in the title and officer election process during the first meeting. And if you are a new or returning student with an interest of Japanese animation, we invite you to visit! Our meetings are open to everyone and free or charge!
