At The Crossing: Latin American Studies from the Borderlands
The University of Texas at El Paso proposes to reconceive Latin American Studies from the perspective of the border--defined both as geopolitical space and as a theoretical category. The focus is to initiate a reconceptualization of teaching, research, and outreach activities, drawing explicitly on study of the border to reinvigorate study of Mexico and Latin America on campus and in the El Paso-Ciudad Juarez region. Funding provided by the Ford Foundation.

BorderLines is a monthly publication produced by the Interhemispheric Resource Center, a private nonprofit research and policy institute located in Albuquerque, New Mexico which produces books, educational materials and policy reports about U.S . foreign relations with the developing world. The site contains 4 years of on-line backissues of the publication.

The Center for InterAmerican and Border Studies, or CIBS, provides leadership and seeks partnerships in the areas of research, outreach, and education, in the border region of El Paso-Juarez, in the border region of Mexico and the US, and in the Americas generally.

FORO VII--Transborder Library Forum, Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua
Overview of the 7th annual Transborder Library Forum on "Building Information Bridges held on February 1997, in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, México. This forum has been the meeting place of librarians from the United States, México and Canada for sharing ideas and efforts to develop cooperation schemes along national borders. Its objectives are to strengthen library links along "nformation bridges" among the NAFTA nations.

Interhemispheric Resource Center
The Interhemispheric Resource Center (IRC) is a private non-profit research and analysis policy institute located in Albuquerque and Silver City, NM. Founded in 1979, the IRC produces books, policy reports, and periodicals on U.S. foreign policy, global affairs, and U.S.-Mexico borderlands issues. Dedicated to education and advocacy that bridges the gaps between academics, the policy community, and social activists, the Interhemispheric Resource Center is well-suited to meet the demand for innovative approaches to education and advocacy.

Photographic sets, geographic information, and demographics are hihglighted to analyze migration and its concomitant social, environmental, and economic problems. Also includes some excellent profiles of illegal crossers of the U.S.-Mexico border.

U.S.-Mexican Policy Studies Program, The University of Texas at Austin
A research arm of the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin. Beginning it's six year, the program is made possible by a grant from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation of Menlo Park, CA. Directed by Chandler Stolp, and Co-Directed by Sidney Weintraub, the program is made up of a team of public policy specialists who address a variety of economic, social, and political trends developing between the United States and Mexico. The researchers are assisted by graduate students who help carry out the one-to three-year research projects undertaken as part of the program.
