Outstanding Emerging Entrepreneurship Center award provides global recognition to UTEP
Rochester, New York
Recognized as the premier global organization for addressing emerging topics of importance for established and emerging entrepreneurship research centers the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Center hosted its annual Conference and Award Ceremony in the Rochester Institute of Technology and the University of Rochester on October 1st, 2016. In honoring excellence of university entrepreneurship the consortium recognized the Outstanding Emerging Entrepreneurship Center. The award acknowledges entrepreneurship centers that are 5 years old or less, recognizing their significant advancement and regional impact to specific target audiences.
This year the evaluation committee vested the award upon UTEP's Mike Loya Center for Innovation and Commerce after thorough evaluation of more than 25 applicants. The honor serves as a testament to the major milestones, development, and strategic growth that the Loya Center has encountered in such a short period of time, showcasing its leading position in the global entrepreneurship spectrum.
Established in 1997 the GCEC serves as the vehicle through which entrepreneurship centers worldwide develop programs, collaborate, and communicate to jointly advance excellence in entrepreneurship. With membership of more than 250 global university-based research centers the consortium looks to reflect leading best practices in entrepreneurship development.
