6. Pre-Engineering Program
Students wishing to major in engineering or computer science will be classified as pre-engineering students for not less than one semester after admission to the University. Pre-engineering students must complete all the requirements of a Pre-Engineering Program designed to prepare them for college success.
General requirements for completion of the Pre-Engineering Program
- Must complete the specified orientation program
- Must meet with a pre-engineering advisor each semester
- Must complete an approved program of study that may include one or more of the following courses: UNIV 1301; ENGR 1100, 1300, 1400, 1401, 1402; MATH 0310, 0311, 1508, 1411; ENGL 0310, 1311, 1312. Although required for the Pre-Engineering Program, a number of these courses do not meet departmental degree requirements. Check with your advisor.
- Must maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 in all designated courses
- Must complete certain specified courses with a "C" or better
- Must make satisfactory progress toward completion of the Pre-Engineering Program
Upon completion of the Pre-Engineering Program, students will petition for a change of major into a selected department.
