Students should seek this advice by the time they have completed 60 semester hours of credit toward a degree. Students planning to enter medical, dental, pharmacy, or veterinary schools normally require a Baccalaureate degree. No particular major is required for entrance, although a minimum of one year of biology, 2 years of chemistry including a year of organic chemistry, a semester of calculus, and 1 year of physics are required for admission to most health professional schools. Thus, a major in Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Microbiology, or Physics is appropriate.
