Dean's Welcome

Welcome to the College of Education at the University of Texas at El Paso. We prepare educators, leaders, and scholars who are making an impact on education locally, nationally and internationally.

Recently, The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education Magazine ranked UTEP's College of Education as #1 in bachelor's degrees awarded to Hispanics. Our online M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction (Bilingual Education) has been ranked #8 for affordable online degree programs according to Top Education Degrees. We are dedicated to preparing innovative educators who will address the needs of their communities. In partnership with local school districts and the surrounding UTEP community, the College of Education faculty has created exceptional educational experiences and has developed unique curricula for our state-approved educator programs. We offer baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral degrees in a variety of areas.

The College of Education is very proud of its accomplished faculty who conduct research on issues related to education in and around the border region. Current grant funding in excess of $15 million is focused on studying dual-language classrooms and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education. Our faculty have presented and published their research findings for national and international audiences. The newly created Center for Education Research and Policy Studies will unite an interdisciplinary array of scholars from across the UTEP campus that will generate and disseminate research and policy studies focused on the uniqueness of the Paso del Norte region. The intent of this rigorous inquiry will be based on the empirical realities of schools, well grounded in the needs of policy makers and education practitioners, and aimed directly at improving education for children within our region and nationally.

The faculty and staff in UTEP’s College of Education are dedicated to serving all students. We are committed to lifelong learning and the promotion of proven and promising practices in teaching, learning and leading. We extend an invitation to you to explore our programs and discover how we can assist you in advancing your professional goals.
