QUALIFYING EXAMS

Candidates participating in the College of Education Educator Preparation Program (EPP) must demonstrate content mastery by passing the qualifying exams established by the program.  The qualifying exams provide candidates with the skills and content knowledge necessary to perform adequately on the Texas Examinations of Educator Standards (TExES) exams.  Candidates must pass TExES exams required for their area of certification to participate in student teaching.

Special Announcement:  As part of a pilot study being conducted by the College of Education, the passing score for all teaching certification qualifying exams has been temporarily adjusted to a minimum of 70%.  The Center for Student Success will be granting access, between 3/6/17 and 08/31/17, to state exams for students who scored a 70% or higher on their qualifying exams. Please note, College of Science students will still be required to achieve an 80% or higher on their qualifying content exam. If you have questions, please contact coedcertification@utep.edu.
