Complaint Process


The University of Texas at El Paso is committed to providing the highest quality educational experience to our online students.However, if a current student has a complaint, he/she should first follow the UTEP Complaint process as outlined in the University Catalog (undergraduate or graduate).

If the complaint is unresolved, the student may file a complaint with the designated agency in the state where he/she is receiving instruction or with UTEP's accrediting agency. UTEP is a member of NC-SARA (National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement) and thus recognizes reciprocity with all states who are members of the SARA organization. Students in SARA states may file a complaint with the agency in their state, or with the Texas agency; contact information for both can be found below.


For Students Within Texas or Another SARA State:

Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB)
The student complaint process is outlined on the THECB website.
Students may also call the THECB at (512) 427-6101 or file a complaint via email at StudentComplaints@thecb.state.tx.us.

For Out-of-State Students Enrolled in UTEP Online Programs or Courses:

Students within SARA states may file a complaint with the SARA portal agency in the home state of the institution or within their home state.
