The Institute for Manufacturing and Materials Management includes a Local Area Network which consists of a variety of UNIX workstations, Personal Computers and Macintosh systems.
The Personal Computers are networked via a Novell server. The UNIX systems are linked using NFS.
The UNIX systems are supported with Soft Windows which emulates the Microsoft Window environment and the PCs are equiped with PC X-Ware to allow remote X-Windows terminal emulation of the UNIX applications.
PC Anywhere is also installed to allow remote dial-up access to the PC network. Modems are also installed on the UNIX systems to allow remote X-terminal access as well.
The MACs are
extensively used for graphical applications.
