Sites.

Kurtén and Anderson (1980:277) characterize Hypolagus as having a "relatively short and broad P3 with a well-developed anteroexternal reentrant. The upper molars have reentrants with coarsely folded enamel borders. Cement is well developed on the teeth. Species are poorly characterized."

The species is based on two fragmentary dentaries, each having the incisor, p3, and p4 (Downey 1962). As common with fossil lagomorphs, the p3 is the primary identifier and used to separate this species from other species of Hypolagus on the basis of size and characters of reentrants.
