Feather Lake Wildlife Sanctuary is a wetland site noted particularly for its birds, with 219 species having been identified through the years. For information and a location map, visit the El Paso/Trans-Pecos Audubon Society's web page.

The Museum of Archaeology at Wilderness Park is a city-supported museum located at the eastern base of the Franklin Mountains off of Trans-Mountain Rd.

Franklin Mountains State Park takes in most of the Franklin Mountains to the New Mexico state line.

Hueco Tanks State Park and Historical Site is in the Hueco Mountains across the Hueco Bolsón from El Paso. Numerous pictographs and excellent rock climbing conditions are strong points.

Rio Bosque Wetlands Park is located in the Lower Valley region of El Paso. Although owned by the city of El Paso, the area is being returned to a more natural condition by the University of Texas' Center for Resource Management.
