Office of the President: Memorandum
Dr. Natalicio initials

Although the Texas Legislature has not yet completed its work, I am very pleased to announce that we’ve been able to identify resources that will allow for an average 3% salary increase for FY 2020 to recognize the meritorious service of UTEP faculty and staff members.

Policies and procedures for merit salary increase recommendations are as follows:

Eligibility

All benefit-eligible employees hired or promoted into their current positions prior to March 1, 2019, are eligible for consideration for merit salary increases. All employees recommended for merit salary increases must have met or exceeded expectations in their current performance evaluations.

Classified, Administrative and Professional Staff

All benefit-eligible staff will be considered for merit increases from a pool of funds totaling 3% of the total staff salary budget.

Faculty

A pool of funds equivalent to 3% of the total faculty salary budget will be committed to merit-based salary increases. Specific instructions for faculty merit recommendations will be issued by the Provost’s Office.

Procedural instructions for submitting merit recommendations will soon be shared with department chairs and directors. Should specific questions about salary increases arise, please contact the Human Resource Services Office at 747-5202 or the Budget Office at 747-5109.

I am deeply grateful for the extraordinary and steadfast commitment of UTEP’s faculty and staff to our mission and to the success of the students we serve, and I am truly delighted that we are able to recognize your efforts through merit salary increases in 2019-20.
