Skov Essay Competition on Business Ethics
Launched by the College of Business Administration in the 2013-2014 year, the Skov Essay Competition on Business Ethics is an annual essay writing contest for high school students from public and private schools in the El Paso region, including the El Paso, Ysleta, Fabens, Socorro, Clint, San Elizario, and Tornillo Independent School Districts. Each year, the College’s Center for Multicultural Management and Ethics asks eligible students to participate in the competition by writing about a topic that challenges them in the area of how ethical issues relate to business.
This year we open the competition to high school freshman students, inviting them to write on the following topic: “Describe a story about a time when you displayed tolerance toward a diverse peer. What did you learn from this experience?”
The College of Business Administration created the competition as a way to consistently interact with the community and positively influence the ethical climate in the El Paso region. Primary funding for the competition is generously provided by Robert E. and Jacqueline Skov, and additional funding is kindly provided by United Bank of El Paso del Norte.
