Skov Essay Competition on Business Ethics
Launched by the College of Business Administration in the 2013-2014 year, the Skov Essay Competition on Business Ethics is an annual essay writing contest for senior high school students from public and private schools in the El Paso region, including the El Paso, Ysleta, Fabens, Socorro, Clint, San Elizario, and Tornillo Independent School Districts. Each year, the College’s Center for Multicultural Management and Ethics ask eligible students to participate in the competition by writing about a topic that challenges them in the area of how ethical issues relate to business.
The College of Business Administration created the competition as a way to consistently interact with the community and positively influence the ethical climate in the El Paso region. Primary funding for the competition is generously provided by Robert E. and Jacqueline Skov, and additional funding is kindly provided by the United Bank of El Paso del Norte.
The Skov Essay Competition on Business Ethics 2013-2014 was the pilot year for the competition. Our target audience was an estimated 2,772 high school seniors from 7 different high schools in the El Paso area. In 2017 we targeted over 10,000 high school seniors from 49 high schools in the El Paso area.
