Community Work-Study Mentorship and Internship Program
About the Program (CWMIP)
Many of our UTEP students receive support through the Federal Work Study program to pay and offset the costs of tuition. The Federal Government, though, mandates that at least 7% of the work study funds awarded through each institution to students be utilized for community service positions.
UTEP not only meets this requirement but exceeds it, according to the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) which holds 15% as a great standard. UTEP’s community service designated positions represent 22% of the total position funding allocations.
To make the community work study program more meaningful and impactful, the Center for Civic Engagement has partnered with the Office of Financial Aid to structure these community work study positions as internships with community organizations.
Students and organizations are invited to apply on an annual basis to participate in this program.
