Drawing on behavioral and social sciences health-related research resources from the College of Health Sciences and UTEP faculty, the Center has access to a wealth of experts whose research work spans basic and clinical science from community to global health.
The breadth of their research includes health education and promotion, health literacy, chronic and communicable disease prevention and management, maternal child health, nutrition, exercise science, disability and rehabilitation sciences, social stigma and mental health.
CIHRE works with affiliated university faculty who specialize in designing and carrying out studies to answer health -related research questions. Their collective expertise includes design, data collection, statistical analysis and reporting., as well as evaluation of clinical and community programs.
A cadre of graduate students assists the Center's faculty in carrying out a variety of projects relevant to improving health outcomes in our border region. In addition to disseminating original research findings in reports, policy briefs, and websites, the Center's researchers publish their work in books, scholarly journals and in presentations at national and international conferences.
