Successful Candidate


The successful candidate will demonstrate

  • evidence of commitment to values of diversity and inclusion and support for the broad principles associated with the UTEP access and excellence mission;
  • skill in working with a variety of educational constituencies, including K-12 teachers, professionals and leaders;
  • success in positions of administrative leadership in academic settings, including working across colleges and disciplines, developing and managing budgets and strategic planning;
  • understanding of the issues related to faculty hiring and retention, and tenure and promotion processes;
  • experience in securing external funding;
  • knowledge of the key issues and challenges facing Colleges of Education and K-16 education nationally;
  • academic and professional qualifications commensurate with appointment at the rank of full professor in the College.

Preferred Qualifications

  • experience with and understanding of the challenges involved in leading a substantial university-based educator preparation program;
  • awareness of curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation and educator credentialing;
  • ability to communicate effectively in Spanish.
