Dean of College of Engineering

The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) seeks a dynamic and visionary leader for the College of Engineering. The Dean will have exceptional opportunities to strengthen and shape how the College contributes to America's leading Hispanic-Serving University.

The University of Texas at El Paso is the only open-access, top tier research university in America and a public research university that transforms lives. Ninety-four percent of UTEP’s nearly 25,000 students are minorities, and many are the first in their families to go to college. At UTEP, students have access to 168 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs in nine colleges and schools.

The College is proud to be a recognized leader in engineering education and has attained high rankings by ASEE. The College offers nine baccalaureate degrees and more than 30 graduate programs and certificates. Enrollment has steadily increased, with 4,321 students (3,599 undergraduate, 576 master’s, and 146 Ph.D.) enrolled during the fall 2021 semester.

Applicants should have qualifications commensurate with appointment as a tenured full professor in the College; demonstrated excellence in leadership and management; a record that shows a meaningful commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion; quantifiable success in developing resources and fundraising for a large, complex organization; and communication skills, political adeptness, and the capacity to represent the College effectively.
