Other ways to celebrate

We know that this semester has not turned out the way you envisioned, but you should be proud of your accomplishments as you earn your degrees and reach your goals!
We want you to find ways to celebrate during the Virtual Commencement weekend on social media using the hashtag #utepgrad. Post your photos on social media using #utepgrad, and your post can be included in our website and on our social media! Here are some options:

  • Graduation candidates previously submitted photos in their regalia, celebrating with household members, decorated caps and decorated lawns and doors:
  • Add UTEP spirit to your social media posts with our social media stickers! Check out them out here:
  • You can also add a frame to your Facebook profile picture here:
  • Community members are encouraged to wear orange and walk in their neighborhoods Saturday, Sept. 12 in honor of graduates and candidates.
  • Are you a first-generation college graduate? Show your pride on your grad cap and include the hashtag #FirstGenForward.
  • Students are encouraged to submit photos of an at-home viewing of the ceremony with their families and loved ones.
  • On campus, the “Mining Minds” pickaxe sculpture at UTEP’s Sun Bowl-University roundabout will be illuminated in blue and orange on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, to commemorate UTEP’s Class of 2020. The iconic Star on the Mountain also will be lit on Saturday, Sept. 12 in honor of UTEP’s class of 2020.
