Celebrating First-Generation Graduates
The University of Texas at El Paso is recognized nationally for being a top-tier research institution educating First Generation College Graduates. First-Generation College students have the opportunity to benefit from the experiences of UTEP graduates, faculty, and staff who serve as mentors while facing the challenges of being the first person in their family to receive a college degree. First Gen graduates have the opportunity to wear special recognition cords to display proudly at their commencement services. First-Generation cords can be purchased at the UTEP Bookstore.
