Your Name and Readers Cards
Your Name at Commencement
While applying for graduation, you may have noticed that your name needs to be updated in the University database. For example, adding your full middle name instead of just a middle initial.
In order to change your name with the University, you must contact The Registration & Records Office.
This name change will affect your diploma, the commencement program, your name Reader Card, and all other university documents.
Reader Cards
When you check-in, you will be given a reader card with your name. Please keep this card in hand at all times prior to and during the ceremony. When you approach the stage during diploma presentations, you will hand your card to the Commencement Reader.
If you have questions about how your name will be pronounced during diploma presentations, please contact the Registration & Records Office.
