Investigating Whether Online Course Offerings Support STEM Degree Progress
Dr. Hachey, Co-Chair of the Teacher Education Department, with colleagues from the City University of New York and the University of Connecticut, has been awarded a $2,466,374 grant from the National Science Foundation [NSF] to conduct a five-year research project starting this fall. Dr. Hachey and her co-researchers will conduct several innovative mixed-method studies to investigate the commonly held assumption that online flexibility increases enrollment, particularly for “non-traditional” students. This research project seeks to determine the extent to which the availability of STEM courses and other STEM major requirements online may correspond to improved access to, and momentum through, college and STEM degrees.
