Engineering Ambassadors
The Engineering Ambassador Program is the machine that drives the College of Engineering's K-12 Outreach. Its mission is to develop and nourish relationships with local area schools and teachers. Ambassadors are undergraduate engineering & computer science majors who are partially funded by the endowment established by Huitt-Zollars.
In working with schools and understanding their STEM needs, the Engineering Ambassadors connect students to resources to bring a better understanding of the field of Engineering and what the UTEP College of Engineering has to offer. These resources include:
- Tours of the College of Engineering which includes exclusive VIP tours for our STEM School partners during E-Week
- Visits to local area high schools, middle schools and elementary schools
- Support network for girls pursuing Computer Science and Electrical Engineering as part of NCWIT
- Life-changing STEM experiences through FIRST Robotics and the ExciTES Summer Institute
The Engineering Ambassadors work with all departments in the College of Engineering to bring experiences, technical knowledge, and excitement to K-12 outreach events and activities. Continuous training and team concepts are what fuel this team to invigorate the pool of future engineers.
Programs that are led by the Engineering Ambassadors include:
- Aspirations in Computing Awards Ceremony
- Discover-E Engineering and Computing trailer
- ExciTES Summer Institute
- E-Week Tours
- Nexus High School Shadowing Program
- FIRST Robotics
