The Department of Civil Engineering at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) warmly welcomes Rajib Basu Mallick, Ph.D., the latest visiting professor lending his expertise to our students in both undergraduate and graduate courses, including Advanced Topics in Civil Engineering and Mechanistic Pavement Design/Analysis.
Mallick has been brought on board by Soheil Nazarian, Ph.D., and has also worked extensively with UTEP’s Center for Transportation Infrastructure Systems. With an impressive 30-plus years of experience in the pavement field and a focus on resilient and sustainable pavements, Mallick brings with him an expansive skillset to share with our students.
His experience includes carrying over 30 research projects to completion, fulfilling 10 consulting projects for the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the State Departments of Transportation, and developing innovative technologies employed for the design of bituminous mixes. Mallick is additionally the recipient of the U.S. Fulbright fellowship, holds a U.S. patent, and has authored two textbooks, 106 journal papers, 75 conference papers, and 38 research reports, making him a remarkable addition to our team.
“It is an honor and a pleasure to work as a visiting professor at UTEP! I have been working informally with the transportation engineering group since early 2000, and I am looking forward to directly working with the faculty here. There is so much to learn – I am thankful for this opportunity!” Mallick said.
Welcome, Dr. Mallick, we look forward to witnessing the wonderful things you accomplish within the department!
