The Assembly of the Engineers
Family and friends, help us celebrate the graduating class of engineers during the College of Engineering's Assembly of the Engineers. In recognition of their academic accomplishments, all graduating students are recognized individually on stage. Students receiving a Bachelor of Science degree will receive an official Link #117, Order of the Engineer stainless steel ring to show their obligation to the profession. Master of Science degree recipients will be hooded by their advisor and PhD graduates will be acknowledged.
As each graduate crosses the stage, notice the unique regalia they wear. Engineering Bachelor's degree graduates are in the traditional academic regalia, and their mortar boards have orange tassels, indicating their degrees come from the College of Engineering. Master's degree graduates are distinguished by the oblong sleeves on their gown, the black tassel on their mortar board and a hood that is orange and white in color, symbolic of the engineering discipline. Doctoral regalia is distinguished by the three chevrons on each sleeve of their gown, the antique gold tassel on their mortar board, and the hood with a velvet blue lining, symbolic of the doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) status.
