Dr. Raheem received her Ph.D. in Construction Management from the University of Florida (UF) in 2014. She holds multiple master’s degrees in Building Construction, Environmental Engineering, and Civil Engineering from UF. She is an Associate Professor and Director of the Construction Safety Program at the University of Texas, El Paso. Dr. Raheem is an invited member of the President’s Advisory Committee on Sustainability and Academic Innovation Committee at UTEP. She has served as a merit reviewer for the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Technology Commercialization Fund (TCF), DOE-NE's Construction Group, and Oak Ridge Institute of Science and Education. She has a research portfolio of more than $3.5 million with projects funded by various U.S. federal agencies and non-profit organizations such as the Department of Labor (DOL), Department of State (DOS), National Science Foundation (NSF), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), 100,000 Strong in the Americas and VentureWell. Her research interests include smart construction, construction safety and health, construction technologies, and asset management. She is an Envision™ Sustainability Professional (ENV SP), a certified associate member of the Design-Build Institute of America (Assoc. DBIA™), and OSHA certified Master Trainer. Dr. Raheem has received several prestigious national, regional, and university awards, including the 2022 Great Minds in STEM (GMiS) HENAAC Education Award, 2022 UTEP Academy of Distinguished Teachers’ Outstanding Teaching Award, 2021 Outstanding Young Faculty Award-American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE)-Gulf Southwest Section, 2020 Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence-College of Engineering at UTEP, 2020 STAR Educator of the Year Award-Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), 2018 Elsevier Outstanding Reviewer, 2017 STEM Accelerator Faculty Partner-Educate Texas, 2016 ASCE Excellence in Civil Engineering Education (ExCEED) Fellowship.
