LAHP Rolling Admission – PDF APPLICATION
LAHP Rolling Admission – WORD APPLICATION
The Liberal Arts Honors Program (LAHP) is relatively new, and since it began in 2012 the Program has awarded Liberal Arts Honors to 21 outstanding undergraduates upon their commencement. Several current and former LAHP students have already presented at academic conferences – some of them winning awards for their presentations – and they have engaged in academic pursuits that are not necessarily typical of a regular undergraduate education
The completion of the LAHP requirements are now recognized as an academic minor. Shown below are the LAHP requirements:
The LAHP minor is not designed to replace any student’s chosen minor. Instead, it serves as a supplemental minor that in most cases does not require any extra classes. We work to ensure that each course required to complete the LAHP minor (18 credit hours total) can also count toward a student’s chosen major, minor, or their Liberal Arts Block Electives
Be sure to visit the LAHP Admission Requirements, as well as What to do When You're Admitted, and Graduating with LAHP Honors for more information on how the LAHP Minor works
TO COMPLETE THE LAHP MINOR, STUDENT MUST FULFILL THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENT
- Two LAHP theory/methodology courses (6 Credit Hours)
- Three additional courses, or two for Psychology students, that can be chosen from a list of over 100 Honors-Designated Courses, Internships taken for course credit, Study Abroad courses (up to six hours), or courses taken with UTEP professors outside of El Paso. We also partner with the Law School Preparation Institute (LSPI) and accept up to six hours of their courses.
- One Zero credit cross-disciplinary Honors Seminar taken in the student's last semester (0 Credit Hours)
- One Honors Project/Thesis to be completed in an independent study course within the student's home department (3 Credit Hours)
