Develop a who's who listing of people and places forming telecommunications networks for delivering instruction in which you are personally and professionally interested in gaining more in-depth learning and familiarity.
Make an on-line visit to at least three of the websites and these people and places and develop a one-page handout listing the URL addresses and interesting information you learned to share with other students in class and instructor.

The T.H.E. Journal provides technology-related information to educators, from
news, trends and support to practices and theories related to technology. T.H.E.
Journal is a publication dedicated to the application of technology in the learning
process. This journal is of interest to me because it covers a broad range of
educational settings, including elementary schools, secondary schools, universities,
colleges, and training centers. The articles are timely and relevant in nature.
T.H.E. Journal is also available in a printed magazine.
Online Higher Education Notebook

This site was a plethora of links to relative information in distance and online
issues. According to the webmaster, "This notebook is a constantly evolving
meta-site of web resources on online higher education." It is a project of The
Office of Technology-Enhanced Learning (OTEL), University of Illinois at Springfield.
This site is a valuable resource for information.
The Virtual University Gazette

The Virtual University Gazette is a free, monthly newsletter covering Universities
with Internet education offerings. The target audience is distance learning
professionals and students at the adult and post-secondary levels. There is
a directory of online colleges as well as a link offering information on new
online programs. The Online Learning Hotspots link provides news of places to
go online to learn more about distance education, with information on innovative
new sites and projects. There is also an option to submit or read controversial/informative
papers or announcements in distance education. This site has very current information
that can be useful in planning or maintaining distance education.
International Society for Technology in Education

International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) is a nonprofit professional
organization dedicated to promoting appropriate uses of information technology
in K-12 education and teacher education. They provide support and information
to improve learning, teaching. They provide information, networking opportunities,
and guidance to face the challenges of incorporating computers, the Internet,
and other new technologies into their curriculum and schools.
ISTE is home of the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) Project and the National Center for Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology (NCPT3). Both of these projects provide information regarding educational issues. ISTE is not only local but national offering a worldwide support network of affiliates and Special Interest Groups (SIGs). They offer latest information through our periodicals and journals and various publications. Although ISTE encourages professionals to become members of their organization, there is much information on their website free to anyone.
