Hilee Draehn

Hello classmates! I'm Hilee Draehn.

I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in the spring of 1992 with a B.S. in Applied Learning and Development with an Early Childhood Specialization. Upon graduation, I went to work in Brenham, Texas as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher in a private, parochial school. A year later, I was asked by the school board to literally build a First Grade program, and so my career as a First Grade teacher began. First Grade was my passion for 8 years; however, in the spring of 2000, I resigned my position in order to pursue a Master's degree in Educational Technology. My goal is to learn how to implement and utilize technology more effectively in my classroom, as I am a technology novice-learning the lingo of the trade. Interestingly though, as I have progressed through this Master's program, I am now asked by my former colleagues to guide them in ways to integrate technology in their classroom; however, problematically, they sometimes think of me as a fix-it of all dilemmas.

I live in Brenham, Texas with my husband, Royce, and daughter Madison. I spend my time enjoying the outdoors with my family, shopping for and reconditioning primitive antiques, and of course "going to school" full time.
