Oscar Trevino
Hello, my name is Oscar Omar Treviño. I was born and live in Brownsville, Texas. I love animals—so much so—that I went to the extent of studying veterinary medicine in Mexico and hold an MVZ (veterinarian) title there. My hobbies include restoring old cars (and making them go fast), hunting, fishing, bowling, building muscle computers, and fixing anything broken. Currently, I am a technology resource teacher at Gonzalez Elementary. I wear many hats there. At times, I’m a computer lab teacher teaching grades 2 – 5 how to use MS Word, MS Excel (mainly for the creation of charts), MS Powerpoint, MS Encarta, and the Internet. At other times, I am the administrator of two LANs. One of the LAN platforms is Windows NT 4 and the other is Novell 3.12. The NT LAN has 30 stations on the New Century ILS and 140 stations accessing the Internet, files and printers. The Novell LAN runs a Compass/Jostens ILS and has 80 workstations on it. Both of the campus LANs were set up by my assistant and I after we received an e-rate cabling grant this year. My other duties at Gonzalez Elementary include troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading the campus computers.
I’m working on a M.Ed. in Educational Technology and if all goes well this semester, I will only be lacking the internship and one course.
