I am especially interested in this organization since I was privileged to attend a two-week technology training by CDLR in the summer of 1998. I also had the opportunity to tour their facilities in the summer of 1999.

The Center for Distance Learning Research (CDLR) was established in 1991 and approved in January of 1992 as an official center of Texas A&M University within its College of Education. In 1996, a public/private partnership was formed between TAMU and GTE (now Verizon). This is a unique partnership between a public university and a private corporation. It allowed the CDLR to locate in a 26,000 square foot Verizon facility in Bryan.

The mission of the Center for Distance Learning Research at Texas A&M University is to provide timely and appropriate information on the development, application and maintenance of information technology systems. This information is provided through demonstration, training, publications and technical assistance. The Center's services are available to all public agencies and private businesses that are interested in the welfare and education of people through the use of appropriate information technology and distance education.
