Carefully read and review the content outlined in Lesson 13 to provide you with an overview of the subject.

Examine best practices and strategies for taking learning beyond the classroom and into the "on-line" instructional environment of the Internet and the WWW.

After reading this chapter I was really interested in the topic that "technology and learning" was a topic of the future, and that future is here. Being an educator I sometimes forget to look at the private sector and see how technology is thriving. The use of corporate universities to train employees in specific areas, which gives solutions to problems, is a wonderful idea. Many people can access learning without the hassle of redundant classes, and physical limitations of attending a university. I was unaware of the McDonald's Hamburger University, and the degree of growth of these types of learning systems. With these types of leaning systems and those of established distance universities, one word that represents why they show success, FLEXIBILITY. I can second that one! Being a full time teacher, site grant coordinator, fine-arts coordinator, and graduate student, there is no other way for me to successfully complete my Ed.Tech degree than having a university be flexible with time, and place. In also reflecting upon Web-Based instruction globally, I see the need for increased technology education in the work force, and in the global economy. I was surprised about the British Open University and the amount of graduates they have supported. We have a lot to implement and develop within our society to keep pace with the ever changing work force, education system, and global economy.
