Alejandro Flores II
PROFILE

I was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas and have lived there most of my life. I have however, had the opportunity to live in Seattle, Washington, Austin, Texas and Bridgeport, Connecticut. Of all three, Seattle is the best place to live and I hope to return there soon with my family. I am married to Mary Ann Flores and both my wife and I are presently finishing our graduate work in Educational Technology.

Over the last twenty years, it has been my honor and privilege to serve our community in various capacities.    I have been teaching in the public schools for over 10 years and have also been involved in developing and establishing several social service projects in the public sector.  This experience allows me to bring a conglomeration of ideas for discussion into the classroom. This infusion of ideas allows my students to explore different ways of viewing the world that will help them to be better prepared for the real world.  One of my primary objectives is to establish myself as a role model for Mexican-American youth as well as to develop my talents to their fullest potential. Furthermore, it is my wish to serve my community as a person who embraces a life of leadership, advocacy and servitude.

I received by Bachelors of Arts Degree from Pan American University in 1983.  My major areas of study are Sociology and Psychology with an endorsement in English as a Second Language.  I am presently working on a Masters Degree in Educational Technology at the University of Texas at Brownsville.  The major emphasis of my Master's Degree is to ascertain the "latest" technological innovations and fuse them to further enhance language acquisition. I also would like to play a major role and contribute to the scientific study of the Sociology of Technology.

Presently, I am an English and ESL Teacher at Resaca Middle School in the Los Fresnos Independent School District.  Previously however, I taught Sociology, Psychology, SAT Prep and English as a Second Language at Lopez High School in the  Brownsville Independent School District.
