Karon Tarver

I have been in education for 15 years. I taught Computer Literacy for 12 years and have been a technology director for the last 3. I started my career at East Chambers ISD in Winnie, Texas. I worked there until June 2000, when I moved to West Orange-Cove CISD. The move has been a very positive one for me and my family. I am responsible for a staff of 6 and a district comprised of 10 campuses. My staff and I maintain a WAN connected by T1’s between the campuses. We support around 1000 PC’s, 50 MAC’s, and 20+ NT servers serving 3400 students and 450 teachers and staff members. Our network topography is the typical star configuration with all campuses accessing the Internet through our high school. This year we have added a video conference system connected to our entire educational service center region (ESC Region 5).

I am a proud parent of a Lamar University Cardinal and an Aggie. My daughter, Eve, will graduate in May. My son, Chris, is a sophomore at A & M. My daughter is an English/Spanish major and my son is in the mechanical engineer program. My husband, Claude, is also in education and is the athletic director of Hamshire-Fannett ISD in Hamshire, TX. He lead the H-F Longhorns for 15 years.

I enjoy unabridged books on tape. I listen primarily to historical studies, historical fiction, and have almost completed the entire Left Behind series. My other hobbies include, shopping, fishing, and attending high school sporting events. I miss the classroom and to I am also the College and Career Sunday school teacher at Hamshire Baptist.
