Esmeralda Garza
I have been teaching at San Benito High School for fifteen years and
have started my sixteenth year this school year. I teach regular and
AP junior English at San Benito High School; in addition, I teach
Internet Networking, a new course that we started this year. San Benito
High School is on the accelerated block system, and the population at my
school is 2300.
San Benito High School is located in San Benito, Texas, a city that was
founded in 1904 by a small group of pioneers from both the United States
and Mexico. San Benito has become the commercial center for Cameron
County. The city is located near the center of the Lower Rio Grande
Valley which is often referred to as "The Magic Valley". It is known as
the Resaca City because of the Resaca de Los Fresnos, an old river bed
that bisects the city and still serves as a scenic recreational spot. The City of San Benito is flanked by Mexico to the west and the Gulf of
Mexico to the east.
I am a graduate student at the University of Texas at Brownsville. I am
completing a Master of Education Degree in Educational Technology. I
have completed thirty-three hours toward this degree and will complete
the last three hours at the end of this course. I plan to graduate in
December, 1999.
My hobbies include shopping, swimming, and reading. I am avid reader
of romance and mystery novels. I love spending my summers just doing
those things.
My name is Esmeralda V. Garza. I am married to Joe G. Garza, and we
have no children. We have been married for twenty-three years.
