Rosemary Echeverria
Hi! I'm Rosemary Echeverria. I'm a doctoral student in Education at the University
of Texas at El Paso. As I work to complete my PhD, I have two other M.A. degrees to
my credit, in educational guidance and counseling and instructional specialization, as well
as a bachelor's degree in English. I am also a full-time teacher for the Ysleta Independent
School District, which has recently become the only urban school district to be recognized
by the Texas Education Agency as a Model of Excellence. My areas of interest are
focused on the integration of technology into the curriculum, and efforts to make
computers and multi-media readily available tools for all students. To this end, I have
applied for and been awarded several grants which have allowed me to convert my typical
5th grade classroom into a multi-media haven. As well as integrating technology, I also
recognize the importance of a well-rounded education; thus, I have helped to establish
such programs as ballet, karate, and choir as part of the curriculum at Cedar Grove
Elementary School.
As living proof of the educational philosophy I share with my husband, our four
children have made education an active part of their own lives. Our two sons, Danny and
David, are both college graduates from UTEP and Stanford University, respectively. Our
two daughters, Cecilia and Nina are currently enrolled in UTEP and Stanford,
respectively.
