Transformation Cost
All of the courses offered through web-based
training can be stored on a single server,
which can also house the company's e-mail
and intranet. This will eliminate the need
to maintain the multiple NT servers currently
being used. A server with the bandwidth necessary
to support all of the proposed and existing
technology will cost approximately $200K.
A server administrator will also be needed
to support server maintenance and course
administration. The web-based courses require
a yearly contract in which the company will
purchase library cards for employees which
cost approximately $265 per employee. Any
courses that are subsequently added to the
company's course offerings then only cost
approximately $15, whether web-based or on
CD ROM. All employee workstations must have
a minimum of: 486DX/33 MHz, Windows 3.x,
2x CD ROM drive, standard VGA card with 1
Mb video RAM, mouse, sufficient hard disk
storage for PC-CBT courses, MPC-compliant
sound card and a default printer assignment.
All of the workstations currently meet these
requirements and will not be upgraded.
