Implementation and Maintenance
Videoconferencing
Implementation: Once each office is set-up
with all the components, the system will
need to be tested. PPL has one person on
staff who is the coordinator for their "university".
Another person, a techie, will need to be
hired to set up the actual teleconferences.
A Teleconference Guide will be printed each
month showcasing the speakers and the times
per time zone so the local managers can alert
their personnel to the meetings. Any handouts
will be posted on the intranet and the managers
will print them out and make copies for their
employees prior to the meetings. Meetings
will be step-by-step and stick to the agenda.
Keeping to the business at hand.. Whoever
runs the conference needs to keep participants
on track.
Maintenance: On site service contracts will
be purchased with the set-ups for a five
year period. Local managers will need to
call service when there is a problem with
their systems.
Web-Based Courses
Impelementation: Web-based courses are installed
on the central server and the databases are
configured for course management. A system
adminstrator distrubutes the link via the
corporate intranet for employee access. Employees,
in turn, create an id and password which
creates a database record and then download
the course manager client to their workstation
and install it to enable course participation.
Once the course client has been installed
employees are able to either download courses
or take online courses.
Maintenance: The system adminstrator maintains
the employee education records and periodically
updates available courses according to employee
needs.
