Miguel Torres
Greetings! My name is Miguel. I was born in Morelia, Michoacan in southern Mexico in 1970. When I was two
years old, my family moved to San Luis Potosi where we lived for six years.
At the age of eight we moved again, and this time to La Paz, Baja California where my father was
sent to work. I have lived in many different cities in Mexico because of my
father's work. Places like Hermosillo, Sonora; Torreon, Coahuila; Mexicali,
Tijuana y La Paz Baja California; Delicias, Chihuahua and Ciudad Juarez. Finally,
in 1992 I came to El Paso and began studying at UTEP. I graduated last year
with a BA in psychology and a minor in general business. I started graduate
school in guidance and counseling, but I changed my mind and switched to
the M.A.I.S. program. This is UTEP's Masters in Interdisciplinary Studies. I like to study computer technology and the
applications of such technology to many fields. I have worked for several computer labs across this university. I
started at (MmTLC), Multimedia Teaching and Learning Center working for Dr. Michael Kolitsky. Later, I moved to (LACIT), Liberal Arts Center for Instructional
Technology. I have also worked at Bell Hall and in the (TRC)
Translation Resource Center lab. Currently, I am working in the office of Technology Planning and Distance Learning (TPDL) where I am a Graduate Research Assistant helping to develop web-pages for faculty.
