Biology 1107 Registration

Registration in the laboratory Biol. 1107 is required for all Biology and Microbiology majors and minors and all students who plan to take future biology courses.

Attendance

You are expected to attend class regularly and on time. In order that everyone in class can hear the lectures and concentrate on the lecture, I request that there be no chatting. Eating and drinking in class are prohibited in the Undergraduate Learning Center classrooms. Smoking is forbidden by law. Do not disrupt the class by walking out before the class is dismissed. Please do not wear hats in class, especially during exam's.

Guidelines for Success

  1. Read the textbook regularly and discuss what you are learning with other students and your family. Expect to spend two hours /lecture outside of class studying for this class.
  2. Attend recitation sessions in Biol. 107 as scheduled for the Biol. 1107 laboratory.
  3. Use the Web Site for our text at http://www.thelifewire.com. Lifewire is an online study companion for LIFE 5/e. The password is walrus.
  4. Ask in the University Bookstore for the hardcopy of the Student Study Guide for your text.
  5. My notes will be available in the Library Copy Center and at my website http://www.utep.edu/jellzey

Examination Policy

All examinations including the final exam, are required of all students enrolled in this course. The exam with the lowest grade will be dropped, except for the final examination which is required. There are no make-up exams. If you have a serious illness call me before the test is given and bring a doctor's written excuse to me. If you have a legitimate excuse for being out-of-town, make arrangements with me to take the exam before you leave. Cheating will be reported to the appropriate administrative officer.

Drop Policy

October 18, 2002 is the last day that a student may drop a class or officially withdraw with an automatic "W". This is the last date on which a faculty member can drop a student. December 5, 2002, the last day of classes is the last day for complete withdrawal from the university.

Repeat Policy

The University of Texas at El Paso has a policy that as of the Fall, 1995 semester, students may only enroll in a particular course a maximum of three times. This includes the W's on your transcript. Furthermore, if you receive a "C" or better in a course, you may not repeat that course.

Grading Policy

  • A = 90-100
  • B = 80-89
  • C = 70-79
  • D = 60-69
  • F = Below 60
