General Description. In clay along Rancho Creek (Wheeler 1875).

Discussion. Wheeler (1875) reported that a Mr. Sanchez showed him a tooth of Mastodon ohioticus (= Mammut americanum), and Hay (1924) noted that E. D. Cope had seen a tooth found in clay along Rancho Creek. However, Hay thought it probably was the tooth that Cope had mentioned in a 1874 publication.
