Order Passeriformes

Although the majority of bird species in the Southwest are passeriformes and large numbers have been recovered from cave deposits in the region, relatively few solid identifications are available. The very number of possible species and the limited morphological variation in their osteology render passeriformes extremely difficult as a group.
