Prodipodomys sp.—Prodipodomys Kangaroo RatsRegional Pleistocene distribution of Prodipodomys

Although with similarities to kangaroo rats of the genus Dipodomys, Prodipodomys features rooted teeth, unlike that genus (apparently except in old age). According to Kurtén and Anderson (1980), it probably formed a lineage collateral to Dipodomys rather than ancestral.
