Ascites: Accumulation of fluid in the space separating the peritoneum of the abdominal wall from those lining the intestines.

Reservoir: An animal, person, plant, soil, or other substance in which an infectious agent normally abides.

Peritoneum: The membranes lining the abdominal wall and intestines. The space between those lining the abdominal wall and those lining the intestines is the peritoneal cavity.

Pleural cavity: The space between the lining of the chest wall and the lining of the lungs.

Vector: An organism that transmits a disease or parasite from one animal or plant to another.
