Readings:

Lynott, Guthrie, & McGoff. "The Adoption of Technology in U.S. Organizations." This article explores the factors which determine the adoption of technology in organizations.  This article has a high level of reading difficulty and may take more than one reading to absorb.  The information on adoption factors, reasons organizations invest in Internet technology, and the development of the regression model are critical for you to understand.  Work slowly and carefully through the article and make sure you have a clear understanding of the content.  Feel free to contact the instructor if you have difficulty.

CNN - Past, future sewn together at Bobbin Show - Oct. 15, 1996.  This site illustrates the impact of the adoption of internet technology to the design process of an organization.  The article includes a short movie clip and audio exerpts for you to explore.

Activity 2:

Enter the board room for discussion.  The subject of the discussion will be the Lynott, Guthrie, & McGoff article.  Post your ideas about why the information in this article is important for you to know.

ACTIVITY 1 INSTRUCTIONS

1.  What is conceptual modeling?
*  An application of systems analysis techniques for the purposes of business process rengineering an information systems development.
*  A blueprint for design and implementation.
*  A communication medium for verification.

2.  What is the importance of Conceptual Modeling?
*  They captures common structures, relationships and
    behaviors.
*  Enhances the effectiveness of communication.
*  Helps to develop a list of contributing factors.

Conceptual models sttempt to capture a whole enterprise, industry, sector, or specific project.  A model is a visual tool that helps to identify and classify the project's needs.

Conceptual models are convenient because they are easy to understand.   The elements of a conceptual model can be quantified to represent the true variables that exist in a mathematical model such as a regression model.

For further information see this link.

For your assignment...draw a simple graphical model of the factors which determine the adoption of technology from "The Adoption of Information Technology" article.   The easiest program to use for this is your Word drawing tools.  Use the text box tool for drawing your model and then just e-mail me the file, the same way you sent your resumes.
