Robotics—this is where the future is going. Robotics is no longer a hobby, it is a multi-million dollar industry. Companies are spending a lot of money in their Research and Development (R&D) divisions to create the ultimate robot. Imagine a world where automation means that we do not have to struggle with   redundant, boring, or an extremely dangerous tasks?

JPL Robotics

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory's (JPL's) Rover and Telerobotics Technology Program, sponsored by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), responds to opportunities presented by NASA space missions and systems, and seeds commercial applications of the emerging robotics technology.  Choose two of the "Current Nasa Research Projects" to explore.

Robotics Lab Homepage UTEP offers an extensive and well-respected Robotics program.  Read about Utep's national award winning developments.

The Telegarden - Control your own robot.  In this web-site you can actually tend a real garden.  Join up and give it a try.

Activity 1

Design a commonly used robot in the future.   Describe the capablities that your robot will have as well as how your robot will be designed to accomplish these tasks.  For example, if your robot is designed to vacuum carpets, it must have navigational capabilities, it must have object sensors, and it must be the correct size and shape to accomplish the task.  Describe your robot and it's purpose in the board room
