Preliminary Plan of Study
Preliminary Plan of Study
The Preliminary Plan of Study is a 3-4 page document with three parts. Part I is a Statement of Goals and Objectives detailing an applicant’s philosophy and the goals an MAIS degree will allow them to attain. Applicants should explain why they are interested in pursuing an interdisciplinary graduate degree, what disciplines, geographical areas, and/or eras they plan to study and what knowledge and/or skills they wish to achieve. Part II should contain a list of courses and a one sentence justification for each course that will build the skills and knowledge to achieve the stated academic goals. Part III should provide a prospectus for a final project, which will demonstrate that the students have achieved the knowledge and skills needed to reach their goals.
Final Project
The MAIS Final Project reflects the philosophy, plan of study, and goals set out in the Preliminary Plan of Study. It serves to demonstrate the level of knowledge and skill attained by the student in his/her course work and research.
