Use of Group Study Rooms
Study rooms are available throughout the library, except for the 6th floor, for use by UTEP students, faculty, or staff. The rooms are lent to groups of three or more on a first-come basis. During slow periods, early morning or late afternoon/evening, rooms may be lent to a single individual but preference is given to groups.
Study rooms may not be saved or reserved. One individual cannot be left in a room to save it while other group members leave the Library. Individuals cannot leave their belonging in a study room unattended. If this occurs the UTEP campus police or staff from the Access Services Department may remove the belongings. The removed belongings will be taken to the Access Services Department and held there until the owners claim their property. If after a reasonable length of time the items are not claimed, they will be turned over to the Campus Police for safekeeping.
If there are noise complaints, the Access Services Staff or Library Security will approach the group and ask them to please keep the noise down. If they do not comply they will be asked to leave the Library.
Any refusal to comply with any of these policies may result in the Campus Police being asked to intervene and a report may be sent to the Dean of Students for disciplinary action.
The Library enforces all of its circulation policies in a fair and equitable manner. If there is any question or problem, supervisors are available for assistance.
